Capital Advisors was founded in 1994 and was acquired by the predecessor company to RBC Bank, the U.S. banking subsidiary of Royal Bank of Canada, in 1999. The company operated as RBC Capital Advisors, the mortgage banking subsidiary for RBC in the U.S., until December 2009, when the company was acquired from RBC by senior management.
